Skyline Canvas · Privacy
Privacy policy
How Skyline Canvas handles your creations, online services and support requests.
Last updated: October 21, 2026 · Covers the current pre-release app.
1. Controller and contact
Skyline Canvas is provided by Kaspar Media, Jan Wagener, Am Hohlen Weg 46, 34369 Hofgeismar, Germany. For privacy questions or requests, email support@kasparmedia.de. Provider information is also available in the imprint.
2. Data stored on your device
The app stores selected cities, coordinates, preferences, access-level information, editable creations and memories locally. A creation can include titles, captions, dates, route points, map images, city artwork, weather snapshots and thumbnails. Local identifiers associate files with the correct memory; they are not advertising identifiers.
You do not need a Kaspar Media account. Kaspar Media does not operate an online memory library for the current app. Device backups may include app files according to your Apple settings.
3. Maps, place searches and routes
Maps, place searches and calculated routes use Apple Maps through Apple’s native MapKit services. Loading a map sends online requests for the displayed area to Apple. An explicit place search sends the entered search text and search parameters; calculating a route sends the selected waypoint coordinates and travel mode. Apple may receive network and technical request information, including an IP address. See Apple’s Privacy Policy. Kaspar Media does not operate an intermediate map, place-search or routing server.
Location permission lets the app select the nearest city and prefill a map or route with your current position. This city selection happens on your device. Route recording starts only when you choose to start or resume it. During an active session the app records GPS coordinates, timestamps and accuracy, including while it is in the background or the screen is locked. Pausing or ending a session stops location recording. The recording and recovery checkpoint are stored locally. Recorded GPS tracks are not automatically uploaded to Kaspar Media or sent to a route-calculation service. Displaying a map of a recorded route can request the corresponding map area from Apple. Exporting or sharing the recording is your choice.
For the optional 2D street-outline design, MapLibre renders OpenStreetMap/OpenMapTiles vector tiles delivered by OpenFreeMap (Hyperknot Software Kft., Hungary). Apple Maps remains available separately. Requests disclose an IP address, ordinary technical connection data and tile identifiers for the selected map area. The app does not send your typed search query, captions, account identifiers or complete GPS recording to OpenFreeMap. A requested tile area can correspond to your current location when you choose that area. Tile resources are cached locally. OpenFreeMap states that routine access logs omit IP addresses; error logs may contain an IP address and requested URL for up to seven days. Security-incident IP logs may be kept for up to thirty days, or until the incident is resolved if earlier. OpenFreeMap may use Cloudflare for delivery, under its own privacy policy. See the OpenFreeMap Privacy Policy and Cloudflare Privacy Policy. Kaspar Media does not receive these provider logs.
4. Weather and city artwork
Weather requests send the selected place’s coordinates to Apple WeatherKit. Weather results are cached on your device for display and exports. Apple’s processing is explained in its Privacy Policy; source attribution is shown with weather information.
An initial collection of city artwork is bundled with the app. Additional artwork and catalog updates are delivered as regional content packs through Apple-Hosted Background Assets. Apple receives the requested pack identifiers and network request information under its privacy policy; the regional download request does not contain your exact GPS position. The app selects the nearest city locally and can request its region automatically, with a Wi-Fi preference. Choosing an unavailable city shows the region and download size before a manual download. Complete regional packs are downloaded. You can inspect and remove eligible downloaded regions in Settings. Removing a content pack does not delete saved memories, which keep their own artwork copies. Ordinary exports do not call an OpenAI API or an image-generation service.
5. Widgets, exports and Photos
The app and its widget extension share selected city settings, rendered images and weather snapshots in a local Apple app-group folder. Widgets can show city illustrations, saved 2D maps, a chosen date and time, weather snapshots and forecast information according to the selected design and access. Weather effects in widgets are still images; iOS controls widget refresh timing. This shared folder is on your device, not a Kaspar Media cloud account.
PNG, PDF, GIF and MP4 exports are created on your device. Saving artwork to Photos asks for permission to add images; the current app does not need to read your entire photo library. Files you export or share are disclosed to the destination you choose and may contain your captions, places, routes and weather details. Your destination’s storage, backup and privacy settings apply.
6. Purchases
Paid access, when offered, is processed by Apple through StoreKit. The app verifies purchase entitlements to unlock features and restore access. Kaspar Media does not receive your payment-card details. Pro and Deluxe use monthly or yearly subscriptions. Products, billing periods, any eligible trial and subsequent prices are shown before purchase. The app does not offer lifetime access purchases. Purchases in TestFlight use Apple’s test environment. Public App Store purchases are subject to the price and confirmation shown by Apple.
7. Voluntary feedback and support
City suggestions and feedback can be saved locally or composed as an email that you review before sending; no online feedback endpoint is configured. The city-request and artwork-correction actions in Settings address a draft to info@kasparmedia.de. App support and privacy enquiries use support@kasparmedia.de. Nothing is sent automatically, and a GPS recording is not automatically attached to either draft. A record contains a submission identifier, timestamp, category, language, app version and the text you enter. City requests may also include a city, country, district and landmarks. You can delete local records or deliberately export a feedback report.
If online feedback is enabled later, the app will request your explicit agreement before sending. The destination, host, retention and any international transfers will be described here before activation. Feedback is used to answer reports, prioritise improvements and assess city requests; submitting a request does not guarantee that a city or feature will be added. Do not include credentials or unrelated personal information.
If you email support, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you send. We use them to answer the enquiry and investigate the issue. Support correspondence is kept only as long as needed for that purpose and necessary follow-up, subject to legal retention obligations.
8. Purposes and legal bases
Where the GDPR applies to personal data processed by Kaspar Media, processing necessary to provide requested app functions, purchased access or contractual support relies on Article 6(1)(b). General enquiries, product-improvement feedback and necessary security handling rely on our legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f). Optional feedback transmission relies on consent under Article 6(1)(a); you can withdraw it for future processing by contacting us. Processing required by law relies on Article 6(1)(c). External providers explain their own processing in their policies. Apple and map-delivery providers may process service data outside the European Economic Area under the arrangements explained in their respective privacy policies. We will describe any future feedback service and its processing before activation.
9. Retention, deletion and your rights
Local memories and feedback remain until you delete them using the available app controls or remove the app and its data. Caches may be replaced automatically. Exported files, Photos items, device backups and Apple purchase records are managed separately. Deleting the app does not cancel an Apple subscription or erase copies you shared. We cannot retrieve memories stored only on your device.
Where applicable, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of personal data we hold, withdraw consent and object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can also complain to a data-protection supervisory authority. Email support@kasparmedia.de to exercise your rights.
10. Tracking and changes
The current app has no third-party advertising or behavioural-tracking SDK. Voluntary feedback is separate from background usage analytics. Apple and online content providers may process service or diagnostic data under their policies. We will revise this page when data handling or providers change, including before the public launch. The date above identifies the latest revision.
